Biography

Jeffrey Apana, an active oboist and English hornist, has been in south Florida since 1993, where he has played for the Florida Philharmonic, Florida Grand Opera, Seaside Music Theater, the Boca Pops, Orchestra Miami, Palm Beach Opera, and Symphonia Boca Raton, to name a few.

He first began working for the Local in 1996 as assistant to former Trustee Richard Gabriel and was first elected Secretary-Treasurer in 1997. He also served as Vice President of the AFM Southern Conference of Locals from 2015-2017 and as their President from 2017-2019. In 2023, he was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the Southern Conference.

As an officer of the Local, he has participated in numerous negotiations. He is also responsible for all financial and recordkeeping aspects of the Local. Apana was instrumental in organizing the Seaside Music Theater Orchestra in Daytona Beach for union representation and served on the  negotiating committee to establish their first collective bargaining agreement.
