Local 655 members Kiki Santander and Nestor Torres have been nominated for 2003 Latin Grammy Awards.
Kiki Santander received a nomination for Best Tropical Song for "Por Mas Que Intento." In 2000, Kiki won Best Songwriter for "Mi Verdad."
Nestor Torres received a nomination for “Mi Alma Latina,” in the Pop Instrumental Album Category. Nestor is also a prior Latin Grammy winner.
Miami’s group “Bacilos” also picked up six nominations (more that any other artist), including Record of the Year, Album of The Year, and two nominations for Song of the Year for the title track and Mi Primer Millon. Other union projects nominated are “Money Pa’ Que” by the group Rabanes under the Crescent Moon Label (nominated for Rock Album By A Duo Or Group With Vocal), and “Te Aviso, Te Anuncio” by Shakira, from her Laundry Service Album (Rock Song category).
2003 Latin Grammy Awards will be presented at the American Airlines Arena in Miami on September 3.
