01/02/09 Union Privilege Announces Scholarship Program
Union Privilege has announced that applications are now available for the Union Leaders of the Future Scholarship. These awards are part of the Scholarship and Mentoring Program to help women and people of color become union leaders.01/01/09 Membership Meetings Scheduled
Two membership meetings have been scheduled for the first half of 2009. Please mark your calendars and join us to discuss issues that are important to you, including obtaining job security and increasing work under union contract.
All meetings will be held at the Local 655 offices in Hollywood.

01/01/09 Victoria's Secret Musicians to Receive Additional Payment
If you watched the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2008 on CBS on December 3, you may have seen some Local 655 members. This year's show was recorded at the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach. The orchestra was contracted under an AFM agreement by Local 655 members Geremy Miller and Alan Rumphs.01/01/09 That Union Thing
The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) plans to ask members to authorize a strike. SAG has been unable to reach an agreement with studios over residuals for Internet productions and new media payments. The previous contract expired June 30, and 75 percent of members would need to vote favorably before the national board could call a strike.

Mark Nerenhausen will leave the helm of the Broward Center of the Performing Arts in March 2009 to become the president and CEO of the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts.
