"Why doesn't the union do something?" We hear this a lot. The union is only as strong as its members. We have contracts on our website for any member to use. Using one would guarantee pay and give some security to whomever signs it. We have legal counsel available for members and we work constantly to make sure our members' contracts are honored. When we find out that a group is not honoring its word, union or not, we do our best to let everyone know about it.

According to the Census Bureau, household income in Broward and Palm Beach has dropped for the second year in a row, down to ten percent less than 2007 income. The Census report also shows that nearly 21 percent of Floridians are without health insurance, more than double the national rate of 8.6 percent.

Plans are underway to turn the Lincoln Theatre into a retail complex once the New World Symphony moves into its new home. Retail stores will line the Lincoln Road frontage, and the theatre will be restored to resemble the 1930's movie auditorium that it used to be. Construction is set to begin in 2011 for an opening in 2012.
