It has been a little over three years since musicians performing services for the Florida Grand Opera undertook the task of organizing for a collective bargaining agreement. Many of those musicians had been working in the opera pit for five or more consecutive years when word got out that the Opera was planning to replace its current contractor and musicians with Miami Symphonic Services for their next season.

In response to the enormous trend of self-produced material and dying record label support, the AFM has been working on their own means of distributing member music electronically. The long awaited launch of GoPro Tunes, which has been in beta development for several years, is now a reality, and members can now upload and sell their music through this new platform.

College football coaches, led by South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier, are proposing to
pay their football players a taste of the millions in revenue they generate. The proposal would give players a $300 stipend for each game they play. Other coaches signing the proposal include Nick Saban (Alabama), Will Muschamp (Florida), Les Miles (LSU), Houston Nutt (Mississippi), Dan Mullen (Mississippi State), and Derek Dooley (Tennessee).
The Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency and the Creative City Collaborative have opened the
Arts Garage, a 130-seat facility, in the arts district of Delray Beach. The Facility will host concerts, theater productions, and other events, including the bi-weekly Jazz Project series.
