09/01/15 Last Month at the Local

Another busy month at the Local. Both the Wage Scale and Bylaw Committees met and have drafted proposals. Please come to the membership meeting on September 24 to voice your opinions on their proposals and cast your vote on whether they should be adopted. The Local is a democratically run organization, and your input is essential.

Check Your Annual Pension Statements!

AFM-EPF Pension Fund Statements are in the mail, and if pension contributions have been made on your behalf, you should have received one by now. All work done under AFM contracts that include pension should appear on your annual statement. Please note that generally pension is based on scale wages, which means that the wages listed on the report may be less than the gross amount you were paid for that year.

According to a new Gallup Poll, 58 percent of Americans approve of labor unions. Women and young adults were more likely to approve of unions, and those in the south were less likely.
