The MPAA and the China Film Group are in a dispute over payments to Hollywood studios for films shown in China.

As a result of a recent World Trade Organization agreement, studios should now receive 25 percent of box office revenue, up from 13 to 17 percent. However, China wants to impose a 2 percent value-added tax and pass it along to the studios. Hollywood studios have not been receiving revenue from the China box office receipts while the dispute is being resolved.

Symphonic

The Sarasota Orchestra is in a dispute with the city of Sarasota over renovations to the Beatrice Friedman Symphony Center, which the Orchestra leases from the city. The Orchestra wants to replace heating and cooling systems and repair bathrooms and other interior and exterior areas, but the city claims that the Orchestra has violated its lease by failing to use a general contractor and provide bonding.
