St. Michael Lutheran Church Seeks Music Director

St. Michael Lutheran Church in Wellington, Florida is seeking a Music Director to lead and accompany existing music groups within the congregation. The ideal candidate will also identify and implement vibrant new ways to engage "heart music" in both traditional and contemporary styles of music.

Responsibilities and Expectations:

1. Play piano & keyboard for services.
2. Direct and accompany choir rehearsals and warm-up practices. Maintain a sufficient rehearsal schedule to be prepared for services proficiently.
3. Accompany instrumentalists and vocalists, or other special music as requested.
4. Start and direct Children's choir.
5. Recruit and accompany the scheduled Sunday worship and special weekday services including Ash Wednesday, Lent (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday), Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve.
6. Select, order and inventory choral and instrumental music throughout the year.
7. Use our copyright licenses with CCLI, OneLicense and Augsburg Fortress according to their guidelines.
8. Provide a list of preludes, postludes and offertories for publishing in the worship service bulletin.
9. Serve as a member of the Worship Team.
10. Maintain pianos and other musical instruments belonging to the congregation by making recommendations for their care to the Worship Team.
11. Consult with the Pastor to determine desired volume, tempo and tone appropriate to the scripture readings, church year, and sermon.
12. Perform at all weddings and funerals at the church, if possible. Fee schedule to be approved by the Worship Team.
13. Role is part-time for 15-20 hours per week and reports to the Pastor.

Qualifications:

1. Experience leading musical groups required; experience leading choirs and instrumentalists preferred.
2. Familiarity with and appreciation for contemporary Christian music.
3. Bachelor's degree in related musical field preferred.
4. Practicing Christian.
5. Strong internal and external communication skills, (phone, internet, social networks, newsletter).
6. Ability to work in a team environment.
7. Maintains confidentiality.
