A report co-released by Florida International University shows that Florida is fourth-lowest in the country in unemployed workers receiving unemployment benefits. Florida is one of eight states that dramatically tightened restrictions in 2011 on who can receive benefits, and most short-term unemployed are not receiving any benefits.
The National Restaurant Association is suing the city of Seattle in an attempt to block the city's minimum wage law, which raises the minimum wage to $15 per hour. The Association claims that the law violates their fourteenth amendment rights to equal protection.
