January 17 Membership Meeting...Members Voicing their
Ideas and Concerns
While the January 17 Membership Meeting did not have a
quorum, the 21 members present spent about an hour discussing issues, and made a
number of good suggestions. Some of the ideas discussed included:
- Lowering the quorum for meetings
- Bringing meetings to the members (e.g. holding meetings immediately
following rehearsals, etc.)
- Increasing the diversity of our membership by recruiting Hispanics and
others
- Organizing orchestras
- Recruiting more members
- Monitoring and possibly recruiting as members the New World Symphony
- Simplifying paperwork for filing contracts
The Local wishes to thank these members for taking the time
to tell us what their concerns are, and the Executive Board will be looking into
these ideas in the future.
