Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra Seeks Orchestra Music Librarian

The Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra and Chorus seeks an orchestra librarian to provide and organize all of the music needed for rehearsals and performances and for maintaining the music library of the organization’s performing groups.

Qualifications Experience if preferred but not required. The candidate must be proficient at reading instrumental music, have a thorough knowledge of bowings, repertoire, instrumentation and music publishers. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to adhere to deadlines are mandatory.

Responsibilities Arrange for purchase or rental of materials; take delivery and track incoming music, pack and ship outgoing music; music preparation – editing, marking string parts, distribution of parts in accordance with requirements of CBA; attend rehearsals and concerts; catalogue and file music, maintain accurate inventory; prepare annual music budget; report to licensing organizations (ASCAP, BMI, etc.)

Position Starting Date – November 1

Salary Information – This position is for 35 weeks per year, an average of 20 hours per week at $12 per hour. The Orchestra Librarian will be an employee of the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.
