The Florida Police Benevolent Association is suing to block the privatization of 18 prison facilities in south Florida. The union does not believe privatization will save the state money, and believes the plan conflicts with existing prison privatization laws.
70 technical, administrative, and clerical employees of the city of Vero Beach have voted to be represented by the Teamsters. Some employees may be worried about the city's possible sale of its public utility departments.
