Broward Cultural Division Presents Creative Investment Program Workshop

Broward Cultural Division invites interested participants from the community to a workshop for the Second Cycle of the Creative Investment Program (a.k.a. Mini Grant Program), offered on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. in the Broward County Main Library, Bienes Conference Room, 100 S. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale. The workshop is offered for individual artists in the Broward County area. The purpose of the Creative Investment Program is to assist eligible Broward-based practicing professional artists to fund small but complete, cultural projects in Broward County, for which applicants have not received funding through any other Cultural Division program. The project must be an exhibition, a performance, or other arts activity. The workshop will also cover how to submit an online application.

Individual Broward-based practicing professional artists, eighteen (18) years or older, residing in Broward County, who have lived continuously in Broward County for the immediate twelve consecutive months prior to the filing date of application, may apply. The program supports eligible artists who have created a recognized body of original works of art within an artistic discipline over a sustained period of time, and pursue this work as a means of livelihood and/ or a way to achieve the highest level of professional recognition. Broward-based artists should demonstrate a history of professional artistic work during the past year, and the ability to create a strong artistic project and deliver the project at a public venue. Funds will be available on a non-matching basis for the use of the award recipient to support a project. An individual Broward-based artist may apply for up to $2,000 per award on a funds available basis. An individual artist may apply for one (1) Creative Investment award per fiscal year and shall not receive in excess of $2,000 in Creative Investment funding during any County fiscal year.

Creative Investment Grant awards will be decided on a funds-available basis. The next Creative Investment application deadline is February 10, 2012 for projects implemented after May 1 through September 30, 2012. There is a limited amount of funding available for this cycle.
