Palm Beach Opera Seeks Young Artist Coach/Rehearsal Pianist
Palm Beach Opera is accepting applications for the Head Young Artist Coach / Rehearsal Pianist for the 2013 season. The person will be in residence from January 2 – March 17, 2013 and reports to the Director of Artistic Operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Play for and coach Young Artists in assigned roles, cover roles and concert repertoire
- In collaboration with PBO Administration program, organize, and play Young Artist community concerts and Lunch & Learn events.
- Serve as pianist for two One Opera in One Hour presentations. 2013 repertoire is IPHIGENIE EN TAURIDE and a ENEMIES, A LOVE STORY
- Provide musical contributions for Development functions as assigned
- Present Concerts in the Classroom with members of the Young Artist Program as assigned
- Organize Young Artist coaching schedule in collaboration with PBO Administration and Stage Management with a minimum of four hours devoted to coaching per day
- Serve as Rehearsal Pianist for PBO Productions of LA TRAVIATA, LA CENERENTOLA and SALOME as needed
- Serve as Rehearsal Pianist for PBO Chorus rehearsals as needed
- Prepare and present Lunch & Learn lectures with YAP as well as pre-performance introduction lectures, i.e. “Curtain Warmers” before mainstage performances in collaboration with other members of the PBO Music Staff as assigned by PBO Administration
- Additional duties as determined and mutually agreed upon in conversation with PBO Administration
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (B.M.) in piano performance or conducting
Experience:
Minimum of one to 4 years of related work experience
Requirements:
Candidate must possess excellent piano skills as well as a vast knowledge of operatic repertoire, and knowledge of ‘standard operatic languages’ such as Italian, French, and German.
