Officer nominations were conducted at the General Membership meeting held on October 30, 1997. By virtue of their running unopposed, three positions were elected by acclamation. We would like to congratulate the new officers of the South Florida Musicians Association:

Eight candidates are running for the six member-at-large positions on the Executive Board. Please see submitted campaign statements on page 2.

All officers will take office in January. Please join us in congratulating them!

Members needing an absentee ballot must submit a written request to be received no later than 8:00am on Thursday, December 4, 1997. In the event of a tie, a runoff election will be held on December 18, 1997 at the Local.

Notice: $10 Special Assessment Due

As you have probably read in the International Musician, delegates at the last AFM Convention approved a one-time special assessment of $10 per member. This assessment is to be sent to Local 655 and we will forward the assessment directly to the Federation for debt payment, recruitment, and headquarters relocation; none of it is kept by Locals. We thank you for your support and understanding and your prompt payment in January! A copy of the official assessment is available at the Local upon request.

MEMBERSHIP DUES PAYABLE IN JANUARY 1998

  • REGULAR MEMBERS: $136 annual dues +$10 special assessment =$146 total
  • LIFE MEMBERS: $86 annual dues +$10 special assessment =$96 total
