Recording Rap

For the last few months I have been busy inputting all recording contracts into our new computer system.

This information is being shared with the Federation as they negotiate the new Jingle and Phono contracts. Our new system of sending out recording checks with the work dues bill is a success and I thank everyone for paying their work dues on time. This helps us to work more efficiently.

I’ve had inquiries from musicians who may be working with a specific producer or a Label for the first time and would like to get the session money paid up front. We are looking into a procedure where the Union can help with setting up a third party escrow account where all parties will feel comfortable with the project and you, the musician, will not lose the session. I will update you in the next issue...

We are looking for Jingle musicians that are interested in forming an Advisory Board. We would like to create a dialogue among these musicians and share ideas about getting more of these jobs on contract and paying realistic wages. We need to strengthen the jingle community and make our voices heard. Please put the word out and call Rene Barge at (305) 442-2821 or me at the Local (954) 925-1996 if you are interested in participating.

In the meantime, keep the calls coming!
