Membership Drive

Now’s a great time to join!

From now until November 5 (date may be extended) Initiation Fees have been waived and new members can join for only $34—a savings of $115!

Next General Membership Meeting

Thursday, December 16 at 1pm at the Local (2725 Hollywood Blvd.) Please RSVP if you plan on attending so we can make enough space.

Topics will include:

• Health Insurance plan offered by Cultural Community Health Care Co-op in coordination with Miami-Dade Cultural Affairs Council

• Resolutions to amend the Bylaws:

• Amend Article VII Section 3 (f) Duties of Vice President to read, "He/she shall be in Local 655’s office a minimum of 22 hours per week."

• Amend Article VII Section 3 (g) to read, "His/her salary shall be $17,160 per year, paid weekly."

• Amend Article X Section 3 (a) Work Dues by adding, "Ten percent (10%) for all engagements booked through the referral program."

Summary of Bylaw Changes

• Increased duties for Executive Board (chair committees and oversee finances of the Local).

• Flexible nomination/election dates to avoid holidays/other conflicts.

• Member credit of $20 for recruiting a new member.

• Member credit of 50% for casual work dues paid over $125 per year.

• Creation of standing committees to oversee the operations of the Local.

• Creation of Inactive Life Member category (subject to IEB approval).

• Redefining Annual Dues rates to show what dues pays for.

Please note that Annual Dues are now:

• Regular Members: $115 plus Life Insurance Assessment

• Life Members: $65 plus Life Insurance Assessment

(The Life Insurance Assessment for 1999 was $21)

Health Insurance?

Please plan to attend the next General Membership Meeting on Thursday December 16 at 1:00PM at the Local (2725 Hollywood Blvd., one block east of I-95 on Hollywood Blvd.). We will discuss the Life Insurance Benefit as well as have a presentation by Tony Lestino (CCHCC) and Anthony Merlino (Independent Health Care Consultant) on the Health Insurance plan being offered to our members through the Cultural Community Health Care Co-op, in coordination with the Miami-Dade Cultural Affairs Council.
