Recording Rap

I want to thank all musicians for their phone calls and inquiries; because of this I am able to get more contracts filed and more clean up accomplished. Twelve musicians with the Michael Rose Orchestra received payment for a TV commercial. This was only possible because we had an original contract on file. Now you know why we keep saying, "Please file your contracts!"

This past week has been hectic. HBO is doing a movie on Arturo Sandoval’s life with Andy Garcia playing the lead. Member Will Edwards is the musical contractor and is working with me and the L.A. Local for scales and movie rates. I will give an update as we progress.

Kudos to Randy Cantor and Desmond Child for being nominated at last month’s Grammy Awards! Randy Cantor was nominated for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying a Vocal. Randy has played keyboards with artists such as Lou Rawls, Dionne Warwick, and Kool & the Gang. He began the first midi-computer based studio in America with Joe Tarsia at Sigma Sound, had a top-20 Canadian Hit, Edge of the World, with Marc Jordan, and arranged, recorded, and programmed Ricky Martin’s number one single, Livin La Vida Loca.

Desmond Child was also nominated for Livin La Vida Loca. Desmond, son of Cuban composer Elena Casals, has appeared on Saturday Night Live and has collaborated with such artists as Bon Jovi (Living on a Prayer), Aerosmith (Dude Looks Like a Lady), and Michael Bolton (How Can We Be Lovers). He will also be an honoree on April 8th at the Recording Academy’s 2000 Florida Governors Awards in Miami Beach. Emilio Estefan will be a presenter that evening.
