I think it’s time to take the Local back from the orchestra and make it representative of all the musicians who work, live, die and pay dues in this Local. If the Local is going to spend our money, we should all have a voice in it. The orchestra should pay their own way just like the rest of us.

We are all part of business who’s product is a tough sell. That’s our problem. As musicians, we all know how hard it is to sell our bands. In the last few years, we -- the recording musicians, have filed 2 to 3 times more money in recording than in the past. We have filed contracts in the amount of $750,000 up from less than $250,000. I believe that people paying 3.5% dues on the scale amount of those sessions should have a voice.

Speaking of technology, maybe the National union will have recording and club date contracts available on-line before Christ returns. In all fairness, our local is working on it.

This local has been bankrupt before and will probably be again if the orchestra has it’s way.
