Amendments to the Bylaws
The Following sections were deleted:
- Article VII Section 2 (g), Article VII Section 3 (f), Article VII Section
4 (hours of Treasurer)
Article VII Section 10: [Officers shall submit a monthly report of
their activities to the Executive Board]
Article VII Section 4 (i), "He/she shall have the authority,
with the approval of the Executive Board, to employ personnel to assist
him/her in his/her duties. The wages for such personnel shall be determined by
the Executive Board."
Article VII Section 4 (j) "He/she shall be responsible for
collecting all dues, fees, and assessments."
Article VII section 4(k), "He/She shall keep a faithful record
of proceedings of meetings of the membership and of he Executive Board, keep a
true account of the membership, and issue notices for all meetings of the
membership and Executive Board."
Article VII Section 11 Officers: If, in the opinion of the working
rank and file (determined by a petition signed by 100 members [in good
standing [an Officer] fails to fulfill the obligations of service as provided
under these Bylaws, the [Local Executive Board] shall, upon receipt of such
petition initiate a preliminary investigation no later than two weeks from the
date of receiving such petition. This investigation shall determine the
validity of the complaint and shall advise the local [officer] as to what
corrections should be made to ensure that obligations of service are
fulfilled. If it is determined that the local [officer] fails to fulfill the
obligations of service, then [a recommendation shall be made to the
International Executive Board] for removal from office.
Article VII Section 5 (a) "It shall meet a minimum of eight
times per year and on special call of the President/Secretary. It shall have
authority to set the day, hour and place of its meetings, except for those on
special call of the President/Secretary. A majority of members of the
Executive Board present shall constitute a quorum. Members are required to
attend six Board Meetings per year or their office will be declared
vacant." And further be it
Resolved that Article VII Section 5 (i) be amended as follows:
"Any Executive Board member absent from three (3) Executive Board
meetings [per year], except for illness, vacation, or absence excused by the
President/Secretary, shall have his/her office declared vacant.
all references to "Treasurer" be replaced with
"Secretary-Treasurer,"
all references to "President/Secretary" be replaced with
"President,"
Article VII Section 4(e) "His/Her salary shall be [$10,400]
per year, paid weekly."
Article VII 2(j) "He/She shall answer all
communications."
DUES INCREASE
The Membership voted to raise
Annual Dues by $10. The new rates, effective 2/1/01, are:
Regular Member: $155 Life Member: $105 Inactive Life Member: $85
Please note that this means that even if you have already paid your Annual
Dues for 2001, you will still owe the $10 increase. Due to the possibility
of a change in Life Insurance Premium rates in July, this additional $10 will
not be due until July and you will be reminded in a future issue of South
Florida Musician of payment of the Annual Dues increase concurrent with the
increase/decrease in the Life Insurance Assessment. Thank you for your
understanding.
