Recording Rap

The recording department has been busy the past few months with artists Cristian Castro, Shakira, Mandy Moore, Brandy, Enrique Iglesias, and Jon Secada working on new projects. During the past two weeks I attended a Puff Daddy session and saw the beginning of the Michael Jackson session with 45 musicians. Michael later came in and conducted one song. James Judd and the Florida Philharmonic have also recorded a CD with selections of Leonard Bernstein’s works.

Rene Barge, of Music A La Carte, is doing a Chevrolet TV Commercial for the Hispanic Market. He recently called me for Sideline musicians. Please let us know if you’d be interested in auditioning in the future and we’ll put you on our list.

Dick Gabriel, Special Assistant to our AFM President, was in town in early May. We visited record producers and met with Leslie Zigel of BMG US Latin for ongoing communication with the Label. I’ve been in touch with the producers of the Latin Grammy’s and will share more information as we get closer to the September 12th date. We have a Phono New-Use Inquiry Questionnaire in the office, which was also recently printed in the International Musician. Please call us if you would like a copy to fill out and send to the New Use Department Electronic Media Services Division of the AFM.

Wishing everyone a busy summer! Lisa Fox.
