Florida Teachers Come Together

Meeting together for the first time since a merger a year ago, Florida’s united teachers’ union held its inaugural convention in Orlando this May. The 100,300-member Florida Education Association was formed by the union of state affiliates of AFT and the National Education Association, becoming one of several merged teachers’ units in the country.

Flight Attendants and Painters Join Union

135 flight attendants at Miami Air International recently voted for union representation amid their concerns over low pay, poor scheduling practices, and lack of health care benefits, and 15 professional painters and decorators at Devita and Sons Painting Inc. of Hollywood, Fla., voted to join Painters and Allied Trades District Council 78.
