General Membership Meeting

Due to the lack of a quorum at the January 17 meeting, another General Membership Meeting has been scheduled. None of the agenda can be acted on without a quorum of members present. Please mark your calendars and make every effort to attend. Thank you!

Agenda:

From 1/17/02 Meeting (due to lack of a Quorum):

Whereas the Local 655 Recording Department has grown significantly in the last 4 years, with a 21% increase in wages on recording contracts in 1998, 100% in 1999, 25% in 2000, and are anticipated to increase again in 2001, and

Whereas the Recording Department is expected to continue to grow with the success of the STAR campaign and other initiatives, and

Whereas the duties and hours of the Vice President/Recording Representative have increased commensurately, be it

Resolved that Article VII Section 3(f) Vice President be amended as follows:

"His/Her Salary shall be $17,160 [$22,100] per year, paid weekly."

The Bylaw Committee reports favorably on this motion.

The following previously announced motions to amend the Bylaws (please see Sept./Oct. Newsletter for details):

Removal of Office Clerk Language (obsolete language)

Officer/Staff Vacation Time (increase to 4 weeks after 5 years of service)

Local 655 Budget requirements (require it to be approved in quarter preceding fiscal year)

The Bylaw Committee reports favorably on these resolutions.

Local 655 Adopts Master Plan

The Executive Board recently adopted a long-range plan and goals for the future of the Local. Some highlights include:

The Executive Board and Standing Committees will be actively involved in fleshing out the details of this plan. If you are interested in being involved and serving on a Standing Committee, please contact the Local or speak to an Executive Board member.

Harp Joins Executive Board

Elected Executive Board Member Margaret Butler declined the Executive Board position shortly after the December 2001 election, and Michael Harp, the candidate with the next-most number of votes, was declared elected to the Board. All of the new officers were installed at the January Executive Board meeting. You can read more about all of the officers on our website at:
