Local 655 is on the move and we’re offering waived Annual Dues for your time and effort to help us grow.

It’s a “Win-Win” situation for you and the new member you recruit! Help us spread the word: contact us for copies of promotional literature to distribute, talk to your nonmember colleagues about the benefits of membership, and make sure they tell us you referred them when they join!

Receive a dues credit of $20 for each new member you recruit; recruit  five new members and we’ll waive your annual dues! (New members must pay a full years’ dues before credits will be issued).

Alan Reskin, 89

Born in New York in 1913, Alan was a man of many talents, but a always a musician first. He studied violin while he studied law, and as a medic in the Army during WWII he played violin in a regular radio broadcast for the troops. He moved to Miami after the war, joined Local 655 in 1853, and played with the Miami Beach Symphonette (which he formed), the Miami Philharmonic, the Ft. Lauderdale Symphony, Miami Opera and Ballet Orchestras, the Naples Philharmonic, and the Boca Pops. He also created Allegro Music House, which came to house a comprehensive library of sheet music, guitars, rental instruments, and supplies. He is survived by two sons, a sister, and two grandchildren.

Gilbert Johnson, 74

A member of Local 655 from 1976 to 1993, Gil was a Grammy winner, former principal trumpet of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and taught at the University of Miami.
