… PTG – SFX – Clear Channel Entertainment Tentative Agreement Reached …
Pamphlet B was ratified in mid-August and I immediately contacted Clear Channel
and began a series of meetings with the musicians in the voting unit to discuss
the upcoming negotiations. I am extremely pleased to announce that after
negotiations concluded, we have received an offer that greatly reduces the gap
that exists between our scales and similar cities and venues across the U.S. I
am recommending this new proposal to the voting unit for ratification. The
voting will take place at the Local on October 9th. I will keep you informed of
the results in my next article. …
Non-Union Leaders … We have held numerous
meetings with some of the busier non-union bandleaders in hopes of convincing
them that using Union musicians and filing AFM contracts makes smart business
sense when factoring in employee loyalty when receiving benefits such as the
AFM’s extremely well-funded pension fund. If this effort is combined with some
pressure from the musicians working with these leaders, we can be hopeful of
getting more to join our ranks. … Palm Beach Opera … We all mourn the passing
of Maestro Anton Guadagno who died August 16th, while on tour in Vienna,
Austria. Maestro Guadagno had been with the Palm Beach opera for 18 seasons.
…Florida Philharmonic Orchestra… We have been working with the Orchestra
Committee to assist in shaping a new Tour Proposal; we hope to see a signed
document by the time you read this article. … Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church …
We have successor agreements in place and have been working with them to
streamline the payroll and pension paperwork and we have been very pleased with
the results of our efforts. … I’ll stay in touch; you do the same …
