Recording Rap

The recording department has been extremely busy with Julio Iglesias, Ricky Martin, and Chayanne projects, just to name a few. The commercial department figures are also up from last year. Matt Allen at the AFM West Coast had e-mailed me the AFM Transfer of Rights Agreement and I in turn e-mailed it to Del Rivero Messianu and Accentmarketing Ad Agencies as they use this agreement quite frequently.

Twentieth Century Fox’s casting department called me for sidelining musicians for the movie “Stuck On You.” The easiest way for busy casting agents to see pictures of bands is on our website. They picked six musicians from Melton Mustafa’s band to look like 1930’s musicians. James Cotmon told me what a great time they had meeting Meryl Streep and Matt Damon on the set. I wish more musicians would take advantage of our FREE WEBSITE. It does generate work. If you already have a website you can link into ours. Please take advantage of this benefit.

The AFM New Use Department just called me for Shakira contracts from 2001. Our musicians will be getting another payment as one of her songs was used in a Pepsi commercial. Please keep me advised if you know a song that you played on is used on TV, commercials, or in a movie. Just another advantage of being on an AFM contract!

Recording musicians Richard Bravo and Lee Levin were part of the band playing for Ricky Martin in Mexico. They also were also on the “Today Show” and “Live With Regis” the week of May 19th.

The Living and Arts section of the Miami Herald had a wonderful article on “Three Cool Cats,” Miami’s Rat Pack Years. Francisco “Paquito” Hechavarria presided over one of the hottest spots called the Boom Boom Room at the Fontainebleau Hilton Hotel on Miami Beach from 1962 to 1971... Paquito recalls “the Fontainebleau was like a big music box with the top left open.” There was the Boom Boom Room, The Gigi, the Poodle Lounge, and the La Ronde. When Sinatra and Sammy Davis appeared in the La Ronde, which was the hotel’s main nightclub, Paquito would also work with that orchestra. Today, Paquito is still recording for Gloria Estefan, Christina Aguilera and other top recording artists.

Please keep me posted on articles of interest or anything that you may think could be a recording new use.
