Cliff's Notes

So here it is one again, SUMMER, the slow season, band camp, out of town gigs, slow nights, complaining club owners, etc. For family I love this time of year.  For business I hate this time of year.  I usually try my best to look ahead and book ahead. If I focus, October will be here before I know it and I can start complaining about too much work.

I spend the hot summer days making new band packages, updating song lists, posting photos and audio to the web site and cleaning up the contact database.  Boring, but it has to be done. I’ll make a couple of calls to good clients that I know will have events come season. They will not be in, they’re usually out having summer fun, but I’ll leave a message and if I’m lucky, they will call me in September. Most of the gigs I book will be for November through April, so by August I always wonder if the small summer gigs will cover the mortgage and get me to the season; so far, they always have.

This summer is a good time for MPF marketing and gigs. We have some brochures at the 655 that can be used to send to potential sponsors. If you need some of these, call us. If you simply need some help with the MPF procedure, we will be glad to walk you through the process; call us, we are here to help. We are Your Local.

We are all proud to announce our first intern, Mike Pina, who will be starting in June. He comes to us from Miami Dade College, where he has been studying music business under the direction of Professor Ed Calle. He will spend two days a week for 12 weeks, answering phones, entering recording contracts into the database, helping to make promo packs, and learning about the Union. We are all very excited about our internship program. If you know of any students that need an exciting internship, please send them in our direction.

 Have a great summer!!

 Cliff
