Double Times

With the assistance of Janice Galassi (AFM) and Jan Gippo (ICSOM), we recently visited the New World Symphony and Lynn University to bring the message of the AFM to the respective fellows/students. We had some good discussions with them about job security, minimum standards, and the role of the AFM, and we hope to establish regular  visits to all of the local music schools in the future.

The AFM recently hosted a Symphonic Symposium which we had the opportunity to attend. There were several information-packed presentations, including:

It was great to see officers and musicians from big and small Locals/orchestras attending, and to have an opportunity for us to discuss mutual concerns, share our knowledge, and to work together to further the interests of symphonic musicians throughout the U.S.

FPO Claims Paid

Florida Philharmonic bankruptcy claims are finally being paid. Non-priority claims (including the bulk of the musicians' claims) are being paid at about $.22 on the dollar, and the musicians are receiving slightly more than $1 million, or on average $13,532 per musician.
