Ira Sullivan Performs for First Annual Simon Salz Memorial Concert

One of the musical highlights of this season will feature legendary jazz artist, Ira Sullivan, as he fills the University of Miami Gusman Concert Hall, 1314 Miller Drive, Coral Gables, FL, with music to honor the memory of the late Miami-musician Simon Salz at the first annual Simon Salz Memorial Concert on Sunday, December 10, 2006 at 5:00 pm.
Sullivan will be joined by his band, The Inter/Outer-Continental Quintet, featuring University of Miami Concert Jazz Band Director Dante Luciani on trombone, pianist Brian Murphy, bassist Jamie Ousley, and drummer John Yarling.

The concert will also feature special guests vocalist Nicole Yarling and guitarist Dave Feinman of California, who will perform original compositions by the late Simon Salz.

Twelve year old jazz piano prodigy, Antonio Madruga will make a guest appearance along with Salz's eleven year old daughter, Mitzi,

A concert for audiences of all ages, this event will benefit the scholarship fund of the University of Miami Frost School of Music Young Musicians' Camp, which Simon and his wife Sarah established in the summer of 2000, and has grown into a nationally-known summer camp emphasizing both classical and jazz idioms.
