Double Times
New wage scales are in effect as of September 1.The new rates are $110 for a 2 1/2-hour service and $132 for a 3-hour service (an increase of about $5). The last increase in symphonic wage scales was in 2005. Since that time, the cost of living in South Florida has risen by more than eight percent, so this increase was more than overdue. Musicians of South Florida deserve to be paid a fair wage, but only by all of us abiding by these minimums can we raise the standard. Please do your part to help us get our minimum wages up to the level of other comparable metropolitan areas. We have scale booklets and business-card-sized scale cards in the office if you'd like them...please let us know!
