MPF Scholarships Awarded

We're proud to announce that this year's Music Performance Fund Scholarship winners are Erica Yeager and Bradley Samore. Each of our winners has been presented with a $500.00 scholarship.

Ms. Yeager, a bassoonist who will be graduating this month from Martin County High School, plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Greensboro to study woodwind performance. She has been a member of the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony for the past three years and was a recent concerto competition winner. She has been the recipient of several scholarships including one to attend Lutheran Summer Music Academy. Her career goals include teaching possibly at the collegiate level and playing professionally in an orchestra or pit orchestra.

Mr. Samore, trumpeter, is graduating from Wellington High School this month and plans to attend Florida International University in the jazz studies program. As a leader in many aspects of his life including Drum Major of Mighty Wolverine Sound Marching Band, a jazz quintet, Sound Affects, WHS JV basketball team and Boy Scouts of America, Mr. Samore has been awarded numerous honors and scholarships. For the future, he would like to become a professional musician and possibly a school band director or politician.

Unfortunately, due to lack of funds, the MPF Scholarship Program will be suspended indefinitely. MPF will be pursuing new resources for funding. Members, if you have any ideas about finding resources to continue this scholarship program and/or finding co-sponsors to support the MPF please contact Dione Chandler at the Local.
