That Union Thing

A trial before the National Labor Relations Board will determine if Nova Southeastern University illegally pressured janitors to not form a union.

Nova Southeastern canceled subcontractor Unicco's janitorial contract weeks before janitors voted in favor of representation by the Service Employees International Union. SEIU alleges that one third, or about 100, of the workers were deliberately not rehired because of their support for union representation.

United Auto Workers has been certified as the bargaining agent for 3000 dealers at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council had been fighting union recognition for the past year, claiming that the casino is owned and operated by a sovereign nation and is therefore not subject to the National Labor Relations Act.
