LARAS to Host musicFIRST Town Hall

The Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences will be hosting a musicFIRST Town Hall on Monday, April 20, 2009, starting at 10:30 AM at the Eden Roc Resort and Spa in Miami Beach.

The musicFIRST Coalition is a partnership of artists and organizations, including the AFM and AFTRA, in support of compensating performers for their work when it is played over the air. The Coalition is in support of the Performance Rights Act, introduced in Congress in December, which would ensure that performers are compensated when their music is broadcast over AM and FM radio.

Attendees at the Town Hall will include multi-platinum selling artist Jon Secada, members of Congress, and LARAS legal counsel Jorge Hernandez-Torano. The Town Hall will be held on April 20, 2009 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 NOON at the Eden Roc, 4525 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach. Attendees will be eligible for discounted registration to the Billboard Latin Music Conference.

If you plan on attending the Town Hall, please RSVP to rfernandez[at]riaa[dot]com or 786-999-1356.
