That Union Thing

The Broward Teachers Union is protesting several actions taken by the Broward County School District. They are filing a lawsuit over the District's decision to not extend contracts of teachers participating in the Deferred Retirement Option Program. The state program allows teachers to work up to three years after their retirement date, and the District had already issued letters approving the extension for 32 teachers. The Union is also protesting the layoff of over 100 teachers for next school year due to budget shortfalls.
