WKCP Classical Radio South Florida has purchased West Palm Beach radio station WXEL from Barry University. WKCP intends to continue WXEL's NPR and public-affairs shows while strengthening its classical music programming. Georgia nearly became the first state without an arts council. The State of Georgia's House of Representatives voted to eliminate the Georgia Council for the Arts (and all arts funding with it), but the Council was later reinstated with a reduced budget of $890,73 (a steep reduction for last year's $2.52 million).

The AFM and the Joint Policy Committee have concluded negotiations for a new Commercial Announcements Agreement. The new agreement, subject to ratification, would run through October 16, 2012 and would raise wages from $115 to $120, raise initial use fees from $32 to $34, and allow the option of eight-week cycles for non-broadcast and new media. Pension contributions would increase to 12.48 percent on June 1, 2010, and to 13.08 percent on April 1, 2011.
