Fredric Marks, 96

Fredric Marks died peacefully, surrounded by family at his residence in Toledo, Ohio on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was a fourth grade school teacher and a classical musician in Miami Florida. He served in the army in World War II where he was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. Fredric was a graduate of the University of Miami, with degrees in education and marine zoology. He played viola in the Miami Philharmonic, the Greater Miami Opera Orchestra, and the Ft. Lauderdale Symphony Orchestra. He also played saxophone and clarinet in big bands in the South Florida area. He was an avid world traveler, nature lover, and art enthusiast.

Fredric was predeceased by Mary Marks, his wife of 69 years. He is survived by daughter Valrie Kantorski of Toledo, Ohio; son Eric Marks of Edmonton, Alberta; and 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
