That Union Thing

The National Labor Relations Board has announced an initiative to protect employees' freedom of choice during union organizing campaigns. The initiative is to address unfair labor practices, such as threats, promises, interrogations, firings, or surveillance, committed by some employers during organizing campaigns. The NLRB has also begun a comment period on a proposal to require companies to post notices informing employees of their rights to unionize under federal law.

Brevard school teachers are protesting a plan to pay them bonuses instead of raises. The teachers have not had a raise in three years, and the school board is offering instead bonuses as low as $200 for first year full time teachers. The teachers claim that the district has over $20 million in unused federal jobs stimulus and district surplus funds.
