Violators will be subject to fines of $5,000 to $25,000 and will be required to post a notice on their website. United States Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis has also made a priority of cracking down on misclassification of workers. The Government Accountability Office estimates that $2.72 billion in tax revenue goes uncollected due to misclassification.

The faculty believe the offer is unfair in light of 4 percent raises recently received by administrators, and 5 percent raises recently received by hourly employees.
