That Union Thing

Manatee County police and paramedics are considering union representation. Concerned that they are not being heard by county commissioners, police are seeking representation through the Police Benevolent Association and and paramedics are seeking representation through the International Association of EMTs and Paramedics.
The city of Miami and the Fraternal Order of Police have reached an agreement on a new two-year contract. The new contract would give police a 3 percent raise in 2014, their first raise since 2009. The agreement must be ratified by FOP members and approved by the city commission.
