Carole Taran, 72

British-born singer Carole Taran, a South Florida Musicians Association member since 1956, has passed away. Taran was nominated for a Grammy and won a Carbonell Award for best female cabaret performer. She regularly performed at the Diplomat Hotel and the Fontainebleau, sang the national anthem at Joe Robbie Stadium during the Miami Dolphins' 1972 undefeated season, and opened for such greats as Tom Jones, Bob Hope, and Jack Benny.

The Novack and Taran families are long time members of 655. The Bob Novack Music Awards are being presented this week at local public schools to outstanding music students.
