Jason Kates has launched an entertainment incubator in the Las Olas Riverfront complex in Fort Lauderdale. The 10,000-square foot space will include a recording studio for its first tenant, Southern Stars. Southern Stars will live-stream concerts featuring local and national musicians for 99 cents per stream.

The Palm Beach Pops has cancelled its season. In light of the death of founder and conductor Bob Lappin, the Board of Directors has decided to suspend concerts and instead focus on presenting programs in area schools for the 2013-14 season.

Musicians of the Baltimore Symphony have ratified a new three-year agreement. The contract calls for an eleven percent increase in wages over the life of the contract. The orchestra is projecting a balanced budget for next season, even with the pay increases.

Musicians of the St. Louis Symphony have ratified a new four-year agreement. The new agreement raises wages by one percent in the second year and two percent in each of the final years. The agreement also increases 401A pension contributions by 1.5 percent over the life of the agreement.

The Dallas Symphony musicians have ratified a new agreement. The new two-year contract increases wages for the current season by one percent and by two percent in the second year. Musicians will also receive a one-time bonus of $750, and for the first time the contract includes wellness initiatives to help control the costs of health care.
