A study by researchers at the Athens Medical School has shown that music may be good for heart health.The research team, led by Charalambos Vlachopoulos, found that listening to classical or rock music decreases aortic stiffness and wave reflections, and that the effect on wave reflections persist even after participants stop listening to music.
The Jazz in the Gardens music festival will be celebrating its tenth anniversary. The Miami Gardens festival takes place annually at Sun Life Stadium, and attendance has grown to 67,000 participants, making it the city's main attraction.

The AFM is suing three movie studios, claiming that scoring of films outside of the United States and Canada was a breach of a 2010 collective bargaining agreement. The studios being sued are Warner Brothers, Paramount Pictures, and Metro-Goldwin-Mayer. The films in question that were scored overseas were Interstellar, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Robocop, and Carrie.
According to the Financial Times, Universal Music is pressuring Spotify to place harsher limits on its free streaming service. Universal CEO Lucian Grainge has voiced concerns that revenue from ad-funded on-demand services is not sufficient to sustain the recording industry.
According to the Recording Industry of America, revenue from streaming music exceeded revenue from CD sales for the first time last year. Streaming revenue rose 29 percent to $1.87 billion last year, while CD sales fell 12.7 percent to $1.85 billion. Digital download revenue fell 8.7 percent, but was still the largest source of revenue for the industry, at $2.58 billion.
Congressmen Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) have introduced the Fair Play Fair Pay Act. The Act would require terrestrial radio stations to pay royalties to performers (artists and labels) for songs played on the radio. The law would also close the loophole where songs recorded before 1972 are not subject to royalties for digital (satellite or Internet) broadcasts.
The Univision program Sabado Gigante will air its last episode on September 19. The weekly Spanish-language variety show, filmed in Miami, has been on the air for 53 years.

The Vienna Philharmonic is launching a three-year residency in Naples (FL) next season. The residency will bring the orchestra to Artis-Naples for six performances over three years, beginning March 1, 2016. The residency will also include public master classes and lectures on Viennese culture and traditions.
Gladys Benenson has donated $1 million to Palm Beach Opera in support of their young artist program. Palm Beach Opera hosts up to eight young artists each year for five-month residencies. Benenson has served on the Opera's board of governors since 1995 and on its executive committee since 2009.
The Boston Symphony has signed a five-year recording contract with Universal Music subsidiary Deutche Grammophon. Under the terms of the agreement, the Symphony and its music director Andris Nelsons will record five albums featuring the fifth through the tenth symphonies of Dmitri Shostakovich.
Miami City Ballet has raised $6.5 million is support of its 30th anniversary season, which will include a national tour and a new production of George Balanchine's "A midsummer Night's Dream. $2.5 million was pledged by the James L. Knight Foundation, $1.5 million by the Ford Foundation, $1 million by Claudia and Steven Perles, and and the remainder was pledged by the Ballet's board.
Sculptor John Raimondi has filed a federal lawsuit against Palm Beach Opera, claiming that his sculpture "Spirit Ascending" was reduced to scrap metal without his consent. The sculpture was commissioned in 1995 by Lois Pope, who donated the sculpture to Palm Beach Opera in 1999. The Visual Artists Rights Act states that covered works may not be destroyed, distorted, or modified without the artist's consent.
The Baltimore Symphony has received $400,000 from the Wallace Foundation in support of its Pulse series. The Pulse concert series will pair ensembles of Symphony musicians with indie rock groups.
