The Atlanta Public Schools are cutting 18 of the 58 band and orchestra teacher positions at elementary schools.There will now be 40 positions for the 52 elementary schools in the district. Atlanta Public Schools is one of the few districts in the state that still provides band and orchestra instruction in elementary schools.
The Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando will break ground in May 2016 for its second phase, a 1,700-seat concert hall. Steinmetz Hall will be named after Chuck and Margery Pabst Steinmetz, who recently donated another $12 million to the center. There is still a $45 million gap in funding for construction of the concert hall, but Center officials believe they will be able to raise the remaining funds before construction is completed.
The Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta has broke its records for Annual Corporate Campaign contributions by raising $13.4 million this season. This was the first time an integrated development team conducted the campaign; in the past, the Center and each of its divisions solicited corporate donations individually.

The AFM has filed another lawsuit, this time against Paramount Pictures over the scoring of "Same Kind of Different Me." The film was scored in Slovakia, and the AFM claims that existing agreements with Paramount require that films produced in the U.S. or Canada be scored in the U.S or Canada.

Florida Grand Opera ended its season deficit-free for the first time since 2010. The Opera avoided a deficit due to increased donations and reduced expenses. The opera had deficits of around $2 million in each of the last two seasons.
Houston Grand Opera has exceeded its fundraising goal. The Opera's comprehensive campaign beat its goal of $165 million by raising $172.9 million. The Opera also maintained strong ticket sales this season, selling 93 percent of capacity.
The Cleveland Orchestra is one of five orchestras featured in the launch of Google Play Music's "Classical Live." Each season, the Orchestra will release up to four recordings of live concerts on the new service. The first recording released was of the Orchestra's performance of Beethoven's Eroica Symphony in February at the Arsht Center. Other orchestras featured on Classical Live include the Boston Symphony, the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony, and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
