Only residents of Louisiana and New York pay a higher percentage of their income on insurance than those in Florida.

Floridians spend an average of 17.1 percent of their income on insurance, more than the national average of 12 percent. Florida has the highest homeowner insurance rates in the nation. The state's low median income, about $5,000 a year less than the national average, also contributes to the high percentage of income spent on insurance.

SAG-AFTRA has reached agreement on a new two-year contract with NPR. Employees will receive a 2.5 percent wage increase on January 1 and another 2.5 percent wage increase on January 1, 2017.
