Last Month at the Local

Last month we assisted a member with making contributions to the AFM-EP pension fund. Did you know that you can make contributions to the fund on your own behalf using the LS-1 AFM contract? The AFM-EPF secures your retirement with fixed payments for life. If you'd like more information about our Pension fund, or the LS-1 contract form, please let us know.

We received calls from people looking for piano teachers last month. Have you let us know if you teach private lessons, or sent us your resume or bio? Our referral program is a free service for members, and a good way to pick up some occasional work. You can submit your information here: http://www.afm655.org/members/tools/promo.php

We assisted the Film Musicians Secondary Markets Fund in finding information about the Jackie Gleason Show recordings from the 1960's and 1970's as well as assisted the AFM in finding documentation on a Juanes song that was used in a movie. On the other hand, we discovered some complete concert recordings on YouTube that were not protected by an AFM agreement. With an AFM agreement in place, you may find yourself the recipient of another paycheck if a recording is reused down the road; without an agreement, you may just be out of luck. Do yourself a favor and make yourself a New Year's resolution: if you find that your work is going to be recorded, contact us, and we'll do our best to see that the recording is protected by an AFM agreement.
