Checklist for Leaders/Contractors

  • Call the Local or visit the website if you have questions about which wage scales apply and to make sure you are using the current rates
  • Contracts, signed by purchaser, should be filed in advance for your own protection
  • Musicians' paychecks are due within 14 days after the last service; make sure you have sufficient deposits and payment from client in time to pay musicians within 14 days.
  • Pension, dues, and engagement reports are due within 21 days after last service
  • Any recording requires additional contracts; ASK IN ADVANCE
  • 14 day notice is required for cancellation/change of dates

Suggested work dues checkoff language:

I hereby voluntarily authorize and direct the (Employer) to deduct from my compensation the uniformly required dues based on earnings as set forth in the Bylaws of the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada ("Federation Work Dues") and/or dues based on earnings as set forth in the Constitution and/or Bylaws of Local 655, American Federation of Musicians ("Local Union Work Dues"). I further authorize and direct the (Employer) to remit within 21 days all Work Dues thus deducted to Local 655, American Federation of Musicians, in accordance with the applicable regulations, and at the times specified in those regulations. This authorization shall be irrevocable for a period of one (1) year from the date hereof. This authorization shall automatically renew itself and be irrevocable for successive annual periods unless I give written notice otherwise to Local 655, American Federation of Musicians, within the fifteen (15) day period following the expiration of any such annual period.
