Executive Board Meeting Number 01-3, 12 March 2001

Meeting called to order at 10:28am. Present: Graves, Apana, Ballard, Bahler, Barnes. Fox and Barge absent; Calle and Scafati excused due to prior commitments.

MSC to approve minutes of 2/14/01 meeting and new members.

Treasurer’s Report: presentation of activities log, expenses for prior month, membership rolls and bank balance data. MSC to authorize an additional $2100 for grievances.

President’s Report: Report on 2 recently resolved grievances with the FPO and one pending grievance; FPO audition dates have been set. Discussion of potential FGO recording. Discussion of 1099/freelance status of FGO musicians when not subcontracted through the FPO. Discussion of possible renegotiation of librarian salary and New Year’s rates with PBO; discussion of possible grievance with PBO regarding employment of students for Merry Widow educational concert. PBP has not responded to our request for a meeting with management. Discussion of “musician at will” status with PBP and recent releases of musicians from their contracts by the PBP. Discussion of grievances with MCS regarding payroll errors, outstanding work dues owed to the Local, cancellation of 2/01 concert. Discussion of possible agreement with SFX and ratification vote in progress. Discussion of SOA dismissal of J Martinez and possible Local legal assistance to Martinez. Report on dialogue with MSO and that they are open to further discussion.

Committee Reports: T Barnes, E Kerley, N Bonsanti, K Faulk, and C Naviera have been appointed by Scafati and President Graves to the scale committee.

Old Business: MSC to postpone further discussion of Life Insurance Bylaw Resolution. Presentation of data regarding a flat work dues rate presented by Treasurer as requested at February meeting. MSC to appoint Dione Chandler as administrative assistant, up to 20 hours per week, with probationary period of up to 3 months, with a probationary salary of $9 per hour, rising to $10/hour at the end of the probationary period. Discussion of 4th quarter 2000 AFM Per Capita waiver request and current status of waiver. MSC to postpone discussion of Liability Insurance coverage and forming a payroll service until after FL-GA Conference.

New Business: MSC to join Broward County chapter of AFL-CIO and to authorize up to $45 per month for AFL-CIO per capita. Confirmation of e-mail poll: MSC to grant symphonic low-budget rate to Ballet Etudes for the balance of the season. Discussion of upcoming hosting of FL-GA Conference. MSC to grant H Etkin Life Membership upon receipt of a letter verifying his 35 continuous years of membership in the AFM. MSC to waive reinstatement fee for N Young on the condition that no further waivers will be give to her. MSC to waive Annual Dues through July for B Ford due to his illness and hospitalization. MSC to approve $25 meeting expense for Luger and potential MPTF cosponsor. MSC to approve $15 meeting expense for Fox to attend recording seminar at Artserve. MSC to set next meeting date for the week of April 16. Meeting adjourned at 12:32 pm.
