Special Meeting to Address Black Tie 7/04/02 Recording

Meeting called to order at 11:03 AM. Present: Graves, Fox, Apana, Ballard, Harp, Luger, Roitstein; Jefferson excused due to prior commitment. MSC to dispense with reading of minutes, reports, and communications.

Business: Graves noted that there are a number of unanswered questions regarding the Black Tie recording. Raimondi arrives at 11:09am. Ballard gives an explanation of the events that took place at the engagement. Apana notes that we have a signed letter from management stating that they intended to record for archival purposes. Roitstein noted that we should inquire with Mars/Clear Channel whether there was a request to record the concert. Luger noted that Black Tie is liable and it is their responsibility to investigate if a tape was made by a third party. Roitstein remarked that members are watching how the Local responds to this issue.

Black Tie management admitted to meeting. They were questioned regarding the inconsistencies in the letter they sent to the Board. Ballard notes that the video operator stated that a tape was being made at the request of Mars. Apana requests a statement from Mars stating that they did not in fact request such taping Graves notes that the Local is in receipt of such letter. Ballard remarks that the Local has an obligation to its members to pursue this to the fullest. Black Tie excused.

MSC to request that Black Tie determine who employed the video operator and obtain a statement from the operator whether a tape was made or not. Discussion of possible resolutions. MSC to postpone further discussion until receipt of statement from video operator.

Meeting adjourned at 12:30 pm.
