Regular Executive Board Meeting Number 04-9, 20 September 2004 at 10:00 am

Meeting called to order at 10:17 am. Present: Walker, Roitstein, Apana, Ballard, Levin, Luger, Raimondi; Harp, Warner excused. MMC to approve minutes of August 2004 meeting.

Secretary-Treasurer's Report: presentation of activities log, expense report, membership rolls, bank balance data, and new members. MMC to approve new members. Apana reported on recent suspensions, the Local's finances and rolls, various membership and finance statistics, and work on a 2005 budget.

MMC (moved by Apana) to suspend the rules to consider the ROPA report at this time. J Potochnic was admitted to the meeting and reported on attendance at the ROPA conference in Las Vegas; she reported on role playing a mock arbitration, on her report of south Florida activities to the conference, on an ASOL presentation by H Fogel, on a symphonic recording presentation by P Pollach, and on a L Waldeck tribute. Potochnic was thanked and was dismissed.

Vice President's Report: presentation of written report. Roitstein reported on updating contact information with the various funds, on an Aguilera session cleanup, on a Soraya album, on responsibilities of payroll companies regarding pension payments, on a SOA request for promotional/grant videotape rates, and on meetings with Universal Latin regarding streamlining filing of B4 reports.

MMC (moved by Apana) to suspend the rules to consider scheduling the next Executive Board meeting for October 11 at 10:00 am. Luger departed at 12:17 pm.

Vice President's Report continued: Roitstein reported that the AFM will bill the signatory for the Placido Domingo/Miami Arena DVD. He is preparing recommendations for the October 12-16 jingle negotiations. He reported on Chasing Papi cleanup, that the AFM has never distributed SPF payments for sampled music, that the RMA reports that $.5M of collected SPF funds have not been distributed, and that it is unknown whether signers of one-time and assumption agreements are being audited. Roitstein has contacted the AFM regarding having an AFM panelist at the Winter Music Conference.

President's Report: presentation of written report. Walker reported on meetings with Clave, Ron Taylor, and others regarding putting independent CDs on AFM contracts and receiving SPF payments; on discussing Contract Creator and other issues with NARAS and Estefan Enterprises at the Latin Grammy Party; at participation at Party Expo and Beautiful Bride; on creating a fillable MPF 'green sheet' online; on Sunday on the Mile; and on bookings for the Miami AFL-CIO. Ballard departed at 1:01 pm.

Special Orders: MMC (moved by Apana) to appoint Luger and M Pina to Casual Committee (pending Pina application for membership).

Unfinished Business: Walker gave  an update on the FGO grievance.

New Business: verification of polls: MMC to grant Florida Classical Symphonic Small Budget for classical concerts for the 2004-5 season; MMC to send Walker to October 3 AFM jingle meeting in LA. MMC (moved by Roitstein) to send Roitstein to jingle negotiations in NYC October 12-16.

Good and Welfare: Discussion of Local 655 finances. Discussion of Palm Beach Pops firings.
