Regular Executive Board Meeting Number 08-10, 19 September 2008 at 10:00 AM

Meeting called to order at 10:18 am. Present: Apana, Ballard, Clippard, Kerley; Potochnic present by speakerphone; De Los Santos absent.

MMC (moved by Ballard) to appoint Apana as chair.

MMC to approve minutes of August 2008 meetings.

Secretary-Treasurer's Report: presentation of activities log, expense report, membership rolls, bank balance data, and new members. Receipt of correspondence from Lee, Ciaramella, Broward Arts Council, Broward AFLCIO. Apana reported on suspension of members, communications with recording musicians.

Symphonic Rep Report: presentation of written report. Apana and Ballard reported that no response has been received from Oliva regarding FGO. Discussion of oversight of Symphonic Rep position. Chandler arrived at 11:15 AM. Discussion continued. Potochnic departed at 11:38. MMC to adopt the following recommendations: sending letters to ICSOM/ROPA lists, symphonic musicians regarding FGO; consult with Warman regarding collecting unpaid pension from FGO; preparation for leafleting and/or picketing FGO preformances, and consulting Warman regarding picketing issues; sending letter to Sunset musicians regarding inaccurate statements made by Ferrer; pursuing IRS reclassification against Sunset; contacting IEB regarding Unfair List request.

Special Orders: MMC to schedule next meeting for October 9  at 10:00 AM. Guest and new intern Jeremy Swearin arrived at 1:25 PM.

Unfinished Business: Discussion of exit interviews for expelled members. MMC (moved by Apana) to create Contract Guarantee Fund and adopt conditions as presented. MMC (moved by Apana) to adopt Code of Ethics policy for Board. MMC (confirmation of poll) to approve format for advertising in newsletter as presented by Apana.

New Business: MMC (moved by Apana) to adopt rate of $10 per broadcast, plus 10% AFM-EPF contribution, for local radio broadcast of live performance, and the same rate, plus the appropriate live rehearsal rate, for studio recordings made for local radio broadcast.

Good and Welfare: Intern Jeremy Swearin introduced himself. Discussion of Florida Recording Task Force; Apana will contact Local 389 and recording musicians regarding participation. Apana presented a promo pack created for Al Matos under the Club Date Assistance Program. Discussion of upcoming elections.
